Farouk Miya’s goal against Mali in the Africa Cup of Nations has been voted CNN Goal of the Tournament.

In a poll conducted on their football handle, Miya’s goal garnered over 1800 votes, winning the first ever Goal of the Tournament by the news network.

The strike was Uganda Cranes only goal on their return to the biggest footballing competition on the African continent.

Miya’s thunderbolt in the 70th minute earned him the Man of the Match Award and was later named by CNN as the Goal of the Week

Miya’s strike beat competition from Piqueti’s goal for Gabon against Cameroon, Mohamed Salah’s strike against Burkina Faso and Vincent Aboubakar’s goal against Egypt in the final.

The Standard Liege forward, on loan at Royal Excel Mouscron is grateful to everyone who voted for his goal.
